ABSTRACT
The research was conducted on cursory observations made by researchers of mulberry snails (Pomacea sp) that died in ponds near starfruit plants. From these observations researchers felt interested in conducting research on the possible use of starfruit extract (Averhoa belimbi L) as a natural pesticide against mulberry snails. This research aims to 1) determine the effect of starfruit extracts on the population of mulberry snails, 2) what is the level of toxicity of starfruit extracts against mulberry snails (Pomacea sp). The method used in this study is an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Star fruit extract concentrations used were 25%, 20%, 15%, and 10%. Gold snails (pomacea sp) used amounted to 500 tails, each treatment used 100 tails and divided into 4 replications. Each test 25 tails. The data collected is the mortality rate of mulberry snails in a period of 7, 14, 21, and 28 days. Observation results showed that starfruit extract concentrations that caused the death of mulberry snails were concentration, 25%, 20%, 15% and 10%. Concentration of 25% has a significant effect on mortality of test animals, when compared with concentrations of 20%, 15%, and 10%. Star fruit extract at a concentration of 25% in the first week showed a high mortality rate with a shorter time compared to other treatments. The four concentrations of star fruit extract with a dose of 140 ml can be classified as a slightly toxic level of toxins.
