Abstract

ABSTRAK


Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sifat kuantitatif dan keunggulan-keunggulan karakteristik genotipe-genotipe tanaman melon dan blewah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode experimental dengan percobaan di lapangan dengan media tanah dalam pot. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan yang diuji yaitu  dua genotip melon, dua genotipe blewah dan empat keturunan hasil persilangan. Masing-masing perlakuan diulang lima kali. Sifat kuantitatif yang diamati meliputi panjang tanaman, jumlah daun, umur berbunga jantan dan betina, jumlah bunga jantan dan betina, jumlah cabang produktif, jumlah buah panen, umur panen, diameter buah, bobot buah segar, ketebalan daging buah, lingkar buah dan kadar gula. Data pengamatan dianalisis dengan menggunakan Analisis Keragaman pada taraf 5%, yang dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut dengan menggunakan Uji Duncan Mutiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf nyata 5% dan analisis korelasi sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa : 1). Sifat kuantitatif yang beragam pada sifat yang diamati adalah bobot buah, diameter buah, ketebalan daging buah, dan umur panen; 2). Genotipe G8 memiliki karakteristik yang unggul dibandingkan dengan tetua betina (G1) dan tetua jantan (G4); 3). Sifat kuantitatif yang berkorelasi positif nyata dengan bobot buah adalah diameter buah, ketebalan buah dan lingkar buah.


ABSTRACT


The objectives of this research were to determine the quantitative characters study of some genotypes of melon and cantaloupe. The method used in this research is experimental method with field trials with the soil medium in the pot. The experimental design used was completely randomized design (CRD). The treatments were: two genotypes of melon, two genotypes of cantaloupes and four progenies from crosses. Each treatment was repeated five times. The observed quantitative characters consisted of length of the plant, number of leaves, flowering dates of males and females, the number of male and female flowers, the number of productive branches, the number of harvested fruits, harvesting dates, fruit diameter, the weight of fresh fruit, thickness of the flesh of the fruit, the circumference of fruit and sugar content, Data were analyzed using Analysis of variance at the level of 5%, followed by a further test using Duncan Multiple Test Range Test (DMRT) at the same level and a simple correlation analysis. The results showed that: 1). The variant quantitative characters were fruit weight, fruit diameter, thickness of the flesh of the fruit, and harvesting dates; 2). Genotype G8 have the superior characteristics compared to the female parent (G1) and the male parent (G4); 3). Quantitative characters positively correlated with fruit weight is fruit diameter, thickness of fruit and fruit circumference.
