Abstract
ABSTRACT
The research was conducted at the greenhouse of Faculty of Agriculture University of "45" Makassar, from May to September 2009. The research aimed to study the effectiveness of three strains of Bradyrhizobium japonicum on growth and yield of Mahameru and Baluran soybean varieties. Treatments were designed using Randomized Block Design. The treatments were Mahameru variety inoculated with R. trifolii (TAL 185), R. phaseolii (TAL 182), and R. melioti (TAL 380), Baluran variety inoculated with strains R. trifolii (TAL 185), R. phaseolii (TAL 182), and R. melioti (TAL 380). Results show that: 1) Bradyrhizobium japonicum strains tested show no effect on the number of nodules, red colour nodule number and N uptake, both on Mahameru and Baluran varieties, 2) strain that was effective in Mahameru variety was TAL 182 based on the number of root nodules and N uptake, strain 380 based on the number of red root nodules, strain TAL 185 based on the weight of 100 seeds, TAL 182 based on dry beans. While in Baluran variety, the effective strains were TAL 185 based on the number of nodules, nodule number in red, N uptake, and the strain TAL 185 based on the results of dry beans, and TAL 185, TAL 182 based on leaf color scale.
